There are more than 30 villages in Kittilä, while the number of inhabitants varies from less than ten to several hundred. The area of the municipality is large – the distance between the northernmost and southernmost villages is more than 140 kilometers.
The villages are connected by beautiful lake, river, marsh and fell landscapes. The riverside settlement and the old preserved village ensembles give a sense of the landscapes of the past.
