Public Order Act
The Public Order Act replaced municipal regulations when it came into effect in 1.10.2003. The purpose of the Act is to safeguard public order and security in public areas. The police department is responsible for order and security in public areas.

Rescue services and fire safety
Lapland Rescue Services is responsible for the safety matters of Lapland and its residents, as well as those visiting the area. Their job is to prevent accidents, give guidance in case of accidents, and organize quick and efficient rescue measures to those in need in all kinds of circumstances.
Damages caused by fireplaces and chimneys can be prevented by regular chimney sweeping. Chimney sweeping and fire inspections are carried out by Lapland Rescue Services. More detailed information can be found on their website.
Police
Kittilä is part of the Lapland Police Department. The Kittilä Police Station (Valtatie 60) offers license services (passport, ID card, and other permits), and you can also report crimes and get weapon checks done there.

Emergency number
Call the emergency number 112 in urgent emergency situations, such as when a life, health, property, or the environment is in immediate danger or under threat, or if there is a reason to suspect that this is the case.
