From municipal initiative to skatepark

The skatepark, which opened in 2024, complements the network of local sports facilities in the Municipality of Kittilä. The skatepark project began as a municipal initiative with over 200 signatures. Through a survey conducted by the Kittilä Youth Council, residents were able to have influence over the location of the skatepark. The general designing and planning of the park were carried out in cooperation with local skaters, so that it would respond as well as possible to the wishes and views of local enthusiasts.

Kittilä Municipality had Skatepark Oliver constructed; it was designed by Janne Saarnio Landscape Architecture and built by Concrete Proof Oy. The park is located on land leased from Oy Levi Ski Resort Ltd. Kittilä Municipality received the government’s grant for the construction of sports facilities to cover the costs of building the skatepark.
