The Municipality of Kittilä awards grants in accordance with the Municipal Strategy, which guides the municipality’s operations and decision-making. The strategy aims to strengthen community, wellbeing, and vitality, as well as to promote sustainable development. The slogan “Kittilä – Pure Gold” and values of nature, humanity, hospitality, and leadership (LIVE acronym in Finnish) are at the core of all municipal activities and awarding grants.
Grants awarded by the municipality support activities that strengthen the municipality’s goals, bring value to residents’ everyday lives, and improve municipal services.
Organizations and third sector actors are central partners in implementing the Municipal Strategy and supplement the municipality’s services, which include: hobby, culture and sports opportunities, civic engagement and community, and preventative measures to reduce marginalization. These opportunities help to improve the wellbeing of residents and increase the vitality and sustainable development in the area. By awarding grants, Kittilä aims to create favorable conditions for the municipality’s civic activities and encourages local residents to engage in the community.
