Services include promoting wellbeing, health, and safety in cooperation with the Wellbeing Services County of Lapland as well as various actors in the municipality. Tasks include, for example, coordinating well-being reports, increasing inclusivity, preventative measures for substance abuse, and relaying information about wellbeing, health, and safety to residents.

Services also include the Family Center, Family Helpers, Coaching Center Osmanpesä, Village Workers, and Community Center Ahmala.

  • The Family Center offers children, youth, and families services that support health and wellbeing, growth, and development, as well as early intervention, care, and rehabilitation. The municipality, associations, and parish offer these services. The goal is to offer these low threshold services quickly and easily.
  • The Family Helpers offer free, preventative services to those who are pregnant and families with under-school-age children. They support and guide families in challenging everyday situations and help with strengthening family dynamics and resources. The work takes a systematic approach and is done primarily at home.
  • The Coaching Center Osmanpesä offers work-life coaching, wellness coaching, and group coaching to young adults and youth who’ve finished basic education. Media, metal, nutrition, and nature workshops are some of the topics covered. Coaching is also carried out in companies.
  • The Village Workers help with household chores and everyday tasks that do not require professional qualifications. These tasks might include cleaning and outdoor maintenance, or carrying firewood.
  • The Community Center Ahmala offers spaces for local organizations and hobby groups to use for meetings and events free of charge. The Family Helpers, cultural services, and youth arts and theater activities are also housed here.

Promoting health and wellbeing is a municipal task required by law as preventative care. Everyday safety measures also naturally play a role in preventative care.

Wellbeing, health, and safety goals include:

  • increasing the wellbeing, health, functional ability, and safety of all residents
  • prevention of diseases and marginalization
  • increasing inclusivity

Activities promoting wellbeing are carried out by all sectors of the municipality. In addition, this preventative work is done in cooperation with local and regional actors.

The municipality’s health and safety plan, as well as other plans, documents, and reports regarding wellbeing can be found at: Programs and Strategies (in Finnish)

The services are managed by wellbeing coordinator.
