Levi Snow Sport Academy

The Snow Sport Academy track options include Alpine Ski Racing, MultiSnowsport, and FreeRide. There are about 35-40 students each year, most of whom study at Kittilä High School. Some study at Lapland Education Centre REDU in Kittilä, and others at Ounasvaara Sports High School. The students make up approximately one-third of the entire high school student body.

MultiSnowsport track: In addition to their regular studies, students complete an alpine skiing instructor course and a snowboarding instructor course, after which they are qualified to work as professional skiing instructors. About one-fourth of the skiing instructors at Levi Ski School are, or have been, students at Snow Sport Academy.

FreeRide track: In addition to their regular studies, students complete an alpine instructor course. The course materials focus mainly on freeriding culture and its various aspects, but most importantly on safety.

Alpine Ski Racing track: This track focuses on high quality training to help students become future elite ski racers, race at the Levi World Cup competition in their home town, and eventually get on the national team.

Levi’s Snow Sport Academy (prev. Levin Alppikoulu) was founded in 1999, during which the first group of seven students started their studies on the Alpine Ski Racing and FreeRide tracks. Since then, over 100 students have graduated high school through the Snow Sport Academy.
