The International House Fell Lapland and Pello project develops information, advice and guidance services for international talent and local employers in Enontekiö, Kittilä, Kolari, Muonio and Pello.
The project aims to make international recruitment easier, create clearer service pathways and support international talent in finding employment, starting a business and settling into the area. At the same time, the project strengthens cooperation and expertise among local organisations and service providers.
The project is developing International House Aurora as a permanent service for the area. International House Aurora brings together services provided by different organisations and helps customers find the right information, service or expert. The service model takes into account the special characteristics of the area, including long distances, a sparse population and seasonal employment.
What does the project do?
The project develops and pilots International House Aurora services, remote guidance and pop-up services across the area. Services and service pathways are developed in cooperation with municipalities, employment services, public authorities, employers, educational institutions and other local organisations.
Through cooperation with employers, the project identifies needs and challenges related to international recruitment and the settling in of international employees, while also collecting good practices already used by local companies. This information is used to develop services and support for employers.
The project also carries out a regional development process to support international residents in settling into the area. Through joint workshops and other development activities, participants share good practices, strengthen their expertise and identify practical ways to make local services and opportunities to participate more accessible to international residents. The aim is to establish sustainable practices and strengthen cooperation across municipal boundaries.
The main target groups are local employers, international jobseekers and employees, immigrants and seasonal workers, as well as international entrepreneurs and international residents who are planning to start a business.
