Artist Einari Junttila
Einari Junttila (1901–1975), a native of Kittilä, was internationally well-known and recognized as a self-taught lyrical realist, renowned especially as a watercolor artist. He also did oil paintings and worked with pastels. As the earliest known artist from Kittilä, Junttila was a sensitive interpreter of Lapland’s nature and remained true to his calling.
Einari Junttila Art Museum
The Einari Junttila Art Museum is open on Thursdays from 13-17, and by appointment at other times. The exhibition on display celebrates the 120th birthday of the artist.
Einari Junttila was one of the more talented watercolor artists in the 1930s, when his career took off with exhibitions in Germany and Helsinki. He was internationally recognized and invited to display his work in places around Finland and abroad.
Palsa Museum
Palsa-museo
The Palsa Museum is located in the home and atelier of the artist Kalervo Palsa (1947-1987). During his lifetime, Palsa became known for his provocative, sexual, and often grim paintings.
