Reidar 100 anniversary year - 2025 will be the 100th anniversary of the birth of artist and professor Reidar Särestöniemi. Reidar Särestöniemi (1925-1981) was one of the most important visual artists in the country, who had a significant impact on the image of Kittilä and Lapland worldwide. The artist's success and public image also aroused prejudice, which was reflected in the prestige of the art scene in the South. But time has proven the enduring value of Särestöniemi's art.

"Gufitar – The Old Man Looked Straight into My Soul" - Exhibition at Särestö, Celebrating Reidar100
The autumn exhibition "Gufitar – The Old Man Looked Straight into My Soul", part of the Reidar100 anniversary year, showcases Reidar Särestöniemi’s work from the 1970s through themes that held deep personal meaning for the artist.
Särestöniemi explored nature, yet at the same time turned his gaze inward. He painted his joys and sorrows, his love and longing. The works of the 1970s lead us into the profound autumn of life, touching on eternal themes of love and yearning, northern beliefs, and the Arctic wilderness.

Ferry Cruise on the lakes Sirkkajärvi and Levijärvi (2 hours)
From the lake, the summer fellscape is at its most beautiful and the scenery is like something out of a postcard. As our ferry sails along lakes Sirkkajärvi and Levijärvi, you can enjoy the picturesque scenery and relax to the sound of the waves. During the cruise you can enjoy sweet crepes, sausages and coffee/tea, which are made over an open fire.

Our small ferry sauna is heated and during the cruises you can refresh yourself by taking a dip in the lake! The ferry is covered, so even a little summer rain won't spoil your cruise.
